25 Days of Christmas: Day Three - Love Actually

Get ten British actors renown for both their Comedic and Dramatic roles, throw them all together at Christmas time and get Richard Curtis to tell them how to be Romantic and Comedic and you have one massive orgy of a British Rom-Com that happens to be super Christmassy.
That's Love Actually on a plate.
The Christmas Story
It's a hard one to pin down as this Christmas-gasm is an ensemble affair but essentially it's about everyone finding love around the Holiday season. These range from a young boy and his attempts to woo a girl who is moving away to America, a has-been pop star realizing there is only one love in his life and that guy from back when My Family was alright, going off to America to become a pimp (I think). That basic tale of trying to find love doesn't differ from the average Rom Com's but the fact it is Christmas means we are all a bit softer and gooey and want all the comforts of the cliched genre. 4/5

The Voice of Christmas
This one is almost impossible to call. Everyone figures out the Christmas message for themselves. The obvious choice would be Hugh Grant as he does the voice over at the start and the end. But really the voice is probably Emma Thompson. She keeps Liam Neeson strong after the death of his wife and keeps it together when she discovers her Husband has been cheating on him. 3/5

The Annoying Christmas Kid
She isn't a girl, she is all woman but Harry's secretary is so goddamn annoying. She persuades Harry to have an affair when his wife is bloody well Emma Thompson! However she gets what she wants, doesn't learn any kind of lesson and it's not that she is bratty just a total bitch. So a whole load of points docked. 2/5

The Christmas Miracle
Affairs, Death, Depression and Mental Illness. After all that everything is pretty much fine in the end. I mean in some cases there is a bit of a bad atmosphere but essentially everyone is happy. That is a miracle of sorts.
4/5

The Christmas Message
Everything about this film is soppy and over the top but when you watch it in context it's just lovely. So I'll let this horribly schmaltzy line tell you the message.
"If you look for it, I've got a sneaking suspicion...love actually is all around" - Hugh Grant
